Health and medical care is the second largest industry cluster in Haywood County and offers a comprehensive array of services and specializations. Two major medical facilities provide the majority of medical services in Haywood County. Haywood Regional Medical Center – a Duke Lifepoint Hospital and Mission Health Systems both offer advanced, compassionate, specialized and safe health care for Haywood and surrounding counties.
Haywood Regional Medical Center was founded in 1927 as the first county hospital in North Carolina. In addition to its medical center, the campus is home to a state of the art Health and Fitness Center, the Haywood Outpatient Care Center, and the Homestead (an inpatient hospice facility). In addition, Haywood Regional operates multiple urgent care centers strategically located across the county.
Mission Health System offers an expanded medical office building for primary care, specialty care, imaging and laboratory services. Soon, tele-medicine for minor and complex care will be added.
